I may not leave this post on for long, but I am amazed at how powerful an image can be, and how in a certain time so much can be summed up so simply.

Topic The progress of the project
We've been able to hold a retreat in order to listen to the hundreds of CDs in the in-box waiting for airplay. It takes a good bit of work to find the proper gems in the crowd that are must-have songs for Hober. Probably about an hour per song. We've added about 250 tunes, - about 15 hours of music - to the playlist.

Here are the albums we've drawn from:

I gave a little interview regarding the state of internet radio. Nothing earthshaking, but contains some of the things I've learned in six years of continuous webcasting. Thanks to Steve Digman http://www.digmansworld.com

I have in my hand one of the nicest CD packaging jobs I have seen yet. Andrew Calhoun's Tefler's Cows - Folk Ballads from Scotland is a well printed brown cardboard bi-fold with full color liner notes. From first listen, I'd say its right up Hober's alley. Bravo!

Lisa Phelan has sent in John Lester's new disc, Big Dreams and the Bottom Line.

Anne Feeney must have read my glowing reviews because I have a package here with her entire discography. A smart move, because I might actually be able to keep this music in a playable form after all the copies have moldered away.

A young singer with a cool guitar, Marissa Levy has a recird out called LookMaNoHands.

Also of note: U. Utah Phillips anti-war session record called I've Got To Know and a copy of Michelle Shocked's re-release of the Texas Campfire Tapes which apparently was recorded at the wrong speed the first time.

More music in the mail!   "Starvation Box" by Jeremiah Clark and the Lighter Thieves has a gritty looking black and cover which is quite intriguing indeed.   Kai Wen sent in his "Red Hot + Tranquility" some time ago and I promise to get some in play soon..   "Medicine for the Wicked" (Setlhare Sa Baloi) is a record of Mogauwane Mahloele who is a sculpter, musician, painter and instrument maker and audio engineer. - http://www.mogauwane.com

Topic New in the General Store
There are three new offerings in the General Store for your collecting and listening pleasure:

The first is a self-published title from our friend Rhiannon in Nashville called "Ekaneetlee Sunrise".

Through the recent correspondence with Kendall we managed to work out the acquisition of a few copies of Kendall Morse, "Beginner's Luck"

Jonathon Byrd * The Waitress is a real good disc and a regular favorite in our living room CD changer. We bought some copies from Jonathon directly.

A good old listener, George D. Allen, took the initiative to send in the new Lhasa disc, "The Living Road". I have high hopes for this album. Look to hear some soon.

I would like to thank OASIS CD Manufacturing for sending their samplers regularly, including the newly arrived Volume 44. It makes it possible for us to get exposed to a lot more talent. Plus, many artists follow up the samplers with cool cards, neet packages and other mail art in order to try to induce us dj types to give them a listen.

I'm constantly amazed by how much effort some artists and publishers spend to try to get some airplay on the college and internet stations. My impression is that to a working folk musician, obscurity is poverty, and money is not the only thing of value one can earn with their talent.

John Lilly has sent in his new album "Last Chance To Dance". Also arrived is one from Rise - "Uncertain Wonders" and the Acoustic Rainbow sampler Volume 16.

Nadine Goellner - "It Must Be Christmas Time"

Jubilant Bridge - "Happenstance" Thanks to Willie Jaeger for sending in this promising harmony trio from Colorado.

Patti sent in some Don Pelletier songs from the Lakeside Topless Review "Christmas Eve" sampler.

David GiGiuseppe sent in his new record called "Movin' On".

Huber Banjos in Roanoke, Virginia, has sent Hober "Team Flathead - The Huber Banjo Sessions". THis may be the beginning of a great friendship...

And finally, the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (yes, .that. Cracker Barrel) has released a ggod sized collection of really good music at their store/restaurants. They sent me the sampler (and a menu) of the 16 discs. We drove down to the freeway exit and had dinner at Cracker Barrel to celebrate, and yes, the folk music is posted right at the main cash register on a listening kiosk. Best wishes and good luck to the label manager Julie Davis.
