Lisa Moscatiello and Fred Lieder will be playing songs from Lisa's new CD release Second Avenue.
Lisa Moscatiello rich alto voice has been compared to k.d. lang, Sandy Denny and June Tabor. In addition to her solo work ,she is the current lead singer for the NYC-based Celtic fusion band Whirligig and for the techno project Arthur Loves Plastic.
She attended Yale University from 1984-1988. She majored in history, and studied voice with Jill Soltero of Yale’s opera department. She also sang and toured with the a capella group Redhot and Blue, whose repertoire included classic pop and jazz songs by such composers as Cole Porter, Thelonius Monk, and Laura Nyro.
Lisa combined her love of pop and traditional folk while a member of the British folk-rock band The New St. George from 1989 to 1995. In 1994 the New St. George released its only album, High Tea on Folk Era records. The band broke up in 1995.
In 1996 Lisa released her debut solo album, "Innocent When You Dream", which received a Washington Area Music award for "Contemporary Folk Album of the Year. Her most recent album, "Second Avenue" , was released by Wind River Records in May 2000 and has been selected for the "first cut" of Grammy nominations.
Lisa continues to tour all over North America, both as a soloist and with Whirligig, performing at the Newport Folk Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, New York University Theatre, Fez in New York City, Passim in Boston, and many other festivals, concert halls and clubs around the country.
