Then get ready for a real treat when Michael McConkey Sister Shirley Sydnor performs Traditional Gospel. In addition to being a singer with over forty years experience singing and lecturing about Gospel in America, Canada and Europe. She has built following in America, Austria, Canada, England, France, Hungary and Switzerland, recorded three CDs, has been on Radio, TV and will be touring Austria again in July and August.
Performing the music of Blind Willie McTell and Rev. Gary Davis along with a bottleneck style guitar and harmonica player. Sister Shirley's roots originated with New Orleans's Jazz Gospel, the music of Rosetta Tharpe and Ernestine Washington and the Buck Johnson Jazz Band, circa 1940's.
"I sing the music you would hear at any Black Pentecostal Church in Baltimore, Harlem or any place in the U. S." This is the clapping, foot stumping music that many Americans and Europeans love." said the smiling Sister Shirley during our interview.
